In the fourth episode of “Men Who Understood the Times,” we begin exploring Christian Nationalism. Labels can be used to shut down conversation, so we discuss the definitions of “Christian,” “nation,” and then “Christian Nationalism.” During our conversation, we examine the separation of church and state, the First Amendment, and whether governments can use laws to legislate morality.
Since we were discussing “Christian Nationalism,” we also observed other nationalisms like “Communist Nationalism,” “Muslim Nationalism,” and “Secular Nationalism. We also asked the question, “Do we want to live under a government that is detached from all moral moorings?” It was a wide-ranging discussion, but it is only first of future episodes on this topic.
